Cancer Awareness Campaign

The month of February is National Cancer Prevention Month and in support of this, the Metallics plants were asked to carry out activities that would raise awareness, foster team building, and engage employees in support of the Metallics Cancer Awareness Campaign. Team members had the opportunity to create t-shirts with a list of nearly 100 people that employees submitted who either are a cancer survivor, or in remembrance of a loved one. Proceeds from t-shirt sales were given to local charities. Medical supplies, board games, coloring books and crayons were collected to donate to childrenā€™s charities. In many plants, posters were created with interesting facts, information on various types of cancer, and what to do if an employee needs support. At the Hydroform plant, employees were given a pink strand of hair for donating to the Childrenā€™s Cancer Society in underdeveloped countries. In Bergneustadt, Germany employees did bone marrow matching by providing a mouth swab to see if they were a match for a life-saving marrow or blood stem cell transplant. ā€œI want to thank each plant for their hard work, time, and effort dedicated to making this campaign a successful one. I believe in supporting our local communities and creating a culture of teamwork and collaboration. Exceptional job, team!ā€ said Matija Mlinaric, Global Director, Human Resources – Metallics Business Unit.
